Assistant Accountant

Part of the Dunstall Holdings Groups, Rea Valley Tractors (RVT) was established over 30 years ago and is a leading regional agricultural machinery dealer. We supply an extensive range of agricultural machinery throughout Shropshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, mid and North Wales, Cheshire and Lancashire and also sell high-quality used equipment across the UK and abroad. We have seven depots in Newport (Shropshire), Shrewsbury, Sudbury, Welshpool, Middlewich, Ormskirk and Denbigh.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced assistant accountant who will be reliable and work well within a small and friendly team. This role will add value through the individual’s capability to collaborate relevant financial and non-financial information to aid in management decision making.

The post holder will assist the financial controller and Group FD to deliver the budget process, prepare the management accounts, have heavy involvement with yearend audits and provide high quality information. You will have an analytical mind, be a well-developed communicator and need to be a very adaptable individual who can prioritise workloads effectively.

The individual will act on initiative, find a solution rather than offer a problem and has the confidence for autonomy to make decisions and challenge – this role requires an all rounder who’s happy to complete transactional activities and also technical and reporting activities.

Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis you will (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Transacting to TB level for Dunstall Holdings and Commercial Vehicles Companies
  • Management accounts preparation and reporting for Dunstall Holdings and Commercial Vehicles
  • Assist Group FD with Commercial Vehicles systems change project
  • Assist FC with RVT/Group funding requirements
  • Budgets for RVT CV and Dunstall Holdings
  • Budget Assistance for RVT
  • Statutory Audits for RVT CV and Dunstall Holdings
  • Assistance with RVT Statutory Audit
  • P11D’s
  • Cash flow forecasting for RVT CV
  • Misc reporting and team assistance

Candidate Requirements

  • Accounting knowledge and experience, studying / CIMA qualified or equivalent
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook,)
  • A high level of proficiency in Excel is a requirement to be successful in this role
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple workloads
